Presentation to State Legal Aid Groups

Jon made a presentation on “Alternative Dispute Resolution” to the Legal Services 2014 Statewide Conference held at DeGray State Park, Arkansas. Discussion included why to mediate, how to prepare for and to conduct the mediation. Emphasis on achieving a “wise” agreement which has the following components: (1) meets the parties interests to extent possible; (2) is durable in sense that parties are committed to adhering to its terms; (3) is efficient in terms of cost and time; (4) is characterized by both parties as “fair”; (5) likely to enhance the parties’ relationship or at least not cause further harm to it; and (6) to extent relevant, meets the needs of general community.
